The council will have its own stand in Hall 2 of the IFA from 3 to 6 October at Spain’s most important food fair.
The Sant Joan d’Alacant Town Council is participating again this year, with its own stand, in the Alicante Gastronómica 2025 fair, which will take place at IFA from 3 to 6 October. This gastronomic event is considered the most important on the national calendar, with large crowds expected over the four days.
To cater for a fair of this calibre, the Sant Joan Tourism Department has prepared a programme of activities in collaboration with several local restaurants and hotels. This morning, the programme of tastings and show cooking events was announced at a press conference attended by the Mayor of Sant Joan, Santiago Román, the Councillor for Tourism, Charo Tomás, and the Councillor for Trade, Manuel Nieto. They were joined by representatives of local hospitality establishments that will be participating in the fair, including Palmira Aguilar (Los Dulces de Palmira), Ángela Raya (Restaurante Almantoni), Iñaki Jiménez (Hanami Cocktail Garden), Jacinto Riera (La Pastisseria de Sant Joan), Rosa Aracil (Robenove), and Antonio Sáez, honorary president of the Sant Joan Merchants Association, representing that organisation.
In the opinion of the mayor of Sant Joan, Santiago Román, ‘the council is proud to participate in the Alicante Gastronómica fair, the most important in the country, and we are able to do so thanks to the collaboration of a number of establishments that make it very easy for us. Sant Joan’s gastronomic offering is so wide-ranging that we can attend Spain’s most important gastronomic fair with complete confidence,’ said the mayor.

For her part, the Councillor for Tourism, Charo Tomás, explained the programme of activities that the Sant Joan Town Council will be running at the fair, a series of events that are made possible thanks to “the quality and variety of the local hospitality industry. At Alicante Gastronómica, we are showcasing how much Sant Joan has to offer, so I am very grateful for the collaboration of the businesses that are taking the name of Sant Joan to IFA, offering their dishes, sweets and cocktails”. Along with the exhibitions and tastings, the Association of Merchants, Entrepreneurs and Related Businesses of Sant Joan d’Alacant is collaborating with raffles of local products among those attending the Sant Joan stand, where local tourist promotional material will also be handed out.
Representatives from local festive organisations are also expected to attend, invited by the Department of Tourism to this major national gastronomic event. An immersive tourism project will also be presented at this fair to showcase all the attractions of Sant Joan’s restaurants and hotels. As explained by Charo Tomás, the Department of Tourism has produced a video showcasing the hotel offerings and an interactive website with 360-degree images of around 40 hospitality establishments (bars, restaurants, cafés, ice cream parlours), showing their location, products, characteristics and contact details. An immersive gastronomic journey through Sant Joan d’Alacant.
