The municipality of Sant Joan d’Alacant is located in a semi-arid climate characterized by mild and relatively humid winters combined with particularly long summer periods and low rainfall.

This climate conditions a vegetation dominated by Mediterranean scrubland with the presence of Aleppo Pine trees.
An example of this type of landscape is found in the Coix Forest Park, located west of the municipality. It is an area composed of different terraces of ancient orchards (carob, almond and olive trees), located in a valley whose slopes house a representation of the Mediterranean forest.

This park has a recreational area with tables, water, shade, recycling point and a viewpoint to the landscape of the old Horta d’Alacant.
