Alicante-Elche Airport
The route that connects Sant Joan d’Alacant with the airport passes through the city of Alicante.
With private transportation, the recommended route is to take the A-70 which would leave us at our destination in 20-25 minutes. Intercity transport also facilitates communication, although always with a forecast of approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Airport address: it is recommended to take the bus Line 23 (with an interval of 9 minutes and service from Monday to Sunday) or Line 23N (night line from midnight to 6:00 a.m., which makes the same journey from Friday to Sunday, with an interval of 60 minutes) that allows the connection of our municipality with Alicante. The stop in Alicante is at “Hermanos López de Osaba – MARQ”. From this point, take bus line C6 in “Vázquez de Mella”. Line C6 has a service from 5:00 a.m. to midnight from Monday to Sunday, every 20 minutes and ends at the Airport.
Direction Sant Joan: it would be done in the opposite direction. First, take bus line C6 to the “Loring-Estación Autobuses” stop and from there, take Line 23 at “Reyes Católicos 47” to Sant Joan d’Alacant.
In addition to public transport, the airport offers parking services, car rental with or without driver and taxis. For more information about these services, consult here.

Climate and well-being
Sant Joan d’Alacant enjoys 180 clear days a year and enjoys a privileged climate with averages above 11 degrees in winter and around 22 in summer, with an average maximum in August below 30 degrees and an average minimum in January higher than 6 degrees, with that from November to February higher than those of Murcia and Valencia. More than two days in a row of rain or cloudy skies is not normal. That is why it is an ideal municipality to live or enjoy a pleasant vacation. Also charming are the sunny days outside the summer season where you can enjoy a walk through the city, through its fields or a small terrace where you can have lunch or tapas.
Leisure and events
Its proximity to Alicante and San Juan beach (2 km away) has turned it into a residential city. In its attempt to not be a mere dormitory city, it has managed to create an important network of shopping and leisure centers. In the town center there are numerous shops and restaurants, and on the side of the road to Valencia a large commercial avenue has been created that offers all the necessary services such as clothing products, food, hairdressers, furniture, decoration, and a large space dedicated to leisure and entertainment. All this information is in the website menu, in Discover.
Art and Culture
Sant Joan d’Alacant concentrates its cultural activities between the House of Culture and the Cultural Center (Municipal Library and Archive) where Culture takes on its greatest role as meeting and leisure spaces. The cultural offer is very extensive, which is renewed monthly to present its various activities: theater, dance, festivals, music, exhibitions, etc. Among the number of consolidated competitions we highlight the Sant Joan d’Alacant Film Festival in its XVI Edition, the Vila de Sant Joan d’Alacant National Painting Contest, XLIX Edition and the Hoguera Plaza Maisonnave Narrative Contest, X Edition. As for its Cultural Agenda, currently the programming is bimonthly and music is always presented in Sant Joan through extraordinary concerts, Spring concerts, Summer Festivals, Santa Cecilia and Christmas.
Health & Wellness
Our municipality, from its health and social welfare areas, has the mission of promoting the promotion of public health through prevention, information, training and health surveillance, managing its own resources, directing them to improve the quality of life of the citizens of Sant Joan d’Alacant.
Its parks and gardens, hotels and residences invite you to rest and well-being.
Health centers can be searched on our website through the health and well-being tab. We have the health pillars of provincial reference such as the University Hospital of Sant Joan d’Alacant and the Miguel Hernández University (UMH) with the Faculties of Medicine and Pharmacy, in addition to the Transfusion Center of the Valencian Community and the Health Center.
But the Institute of Neurosciences, dependent on the UMH and the CSIC, is a reference at the European level. Since 1999, the Institute has established itself as a national and international reference center in the field of neuroscience. In 2013, the Institute obtained the accreditation of the Severo Ochoa Center of Excellence and within its team of scientists, it has the following King Jaime I Awards in Basic Research: Carlos Belmonte (1992), Ángela Nieto (2009) and Óscar Marín (2011). ).
The Psychiatric Center and the Anti-Alcoholic Unit are also located in the municipality, the latter two depending on the Provincial Council. Among the community services and health care provision is the San Juan Residential Complex (PSN) and the Railway Pensioners’ Residence, due to its welfare nature. The Municipal Center for the Elderly “Salvador Gosálbez Alberola”, on the contrary, is a socio-cultural reference for this group, with its varied offer of workshops and activities.
